«Discover how Europe unites its forces to protect health from vector-borne diseases.»
The OH-SURVECTOR is a European research initiative involving eight organizations and institutions from five European countries and funded by the EU4Health 2021-2027 programme. Three organizations, including the Hellenic Agricultural Organization (ELGO)—DIMITRA and the Institute of Veterinary Research, the Aristotle University, and the National Organization of Public Health (EODY) are participating in Greece.
This cooperation strengthens the capacity of European countries to tackle health threats and protect public health. In Greece, research focuses on monitoring the tick population and detecting diseases transmitted by ticks, such as Crimean-Congo haemorrhagic fever and tick-borne encephalitis, which are included on the EFSA’s surveillance priority list.
The programme runs until 2026 and utilizes scientific methods and technologies to enhance epidemiological surveillance and early prevention of diseases that threaten human health.
