A webinar co-organized by the Gender Equality and Anti-Discrimination Committee (EIFCD) of ELGO-DIMITRA and the Working Group "Balancing Professional and Personal Life - Inclusive Environment" of the EIFCD Network of Research Centers took place on Monday, May 13, 2024.

The aim of the seminar was to highlight issues related to the inclusion and visibility of all social groups, both verbally and in writing, to avoid various forms of marginalization and create a world that accommodates all genders.

The speaker of the seminar was the linguist Dr. Angeliki Fotopoulou, Research Director at the Speech Processing Institute of the "Athina" Research Center. In her presentation Dr Fotopoulou focused on the clarification of terms, such as gendered speech and inclusion, as well as on concepts related to these terms, such as gender and identity, language and identity, linguistic sexism. During the seminar she pointed out that language and social identity are connected, and she dealt with the linguistic dimension of the issue, i.e. roles and identities in our linguistic reality, giving multiple examples and discussing some proposals for dealing with the various types of exclusion.

The seminar was coordinated by Dr. Anastasia Tsagkarakou, ELGO-DIMITRA head of ELGO-DIMITRA's EIFKD and Dr. Alexandra Sintori, ELGO-DIMITRA Researcher, member of ELGO-DIMITRA's EIFKD and coordinator of Working Group 7 "Balance Professional and Personal Life - Inclusive Environment" of the EIFKD Network of Research Centers and Independent Research Institutes.
