“ELGO–DIMITRA leads two international partnerships PRIMA on sustainable nutrition and climate-resilient water management in the Mediterranean.”
Two new three-year projects of ELGO–DIMITRA have been approved for funding under the European PRIMA – Section 1 programme, strengthening Greece’s contribution to sustainable nutrition, natural resource management, and climate resilience in the Mediterranean region.
These projects are 2 of the four in total that have Greek organisations as coordinators, and 2 of the 12 that were approved overall in S1.
The MED4CITRUS project (Thematic Area 3: Agri-Food Value Chain in Nexus) promotes the Mediterranean and Hippocratic diet, with a strong focus on the nutritional value and biodiversity of citrus crops. Through experiential learning activities, participatory processes, and digital tools, the project aims to encourage healthier and more sustainable dietary habits among citizens, youth, and vulnerable groups, while also supporting the development of new value-added citrus products and educational materials. The project has a budget of €2.8 million, involving 16 partners from 8 countries, with Dr. Vasileios Ziogas serving as Coordinator and Scientific Lead.
The NB5360 project (Thematic Area 1: Water Management in Nexus) focuses on climate-resilient water management through Nature-based Solutions (NbS). It evaluates and implements NbS across real demonstration sites to address flooding, drought, and pollution, integrating digital twins, smart decision-support tools, and social innovation. The project aims to enable the long-term adoption and scaling of NbS across the Mediterranean. Its budget amounts to €2.275 million, involving 13 partners from 8 countries, coordinated by Dr. Evangelos Tziritis, who also serves as Scientific Lead.
